“ To preserve and maintain lives, environment and goods inside and outside the campus. In the same way, it is our task to participate in activities related to education, university extension, fire prevention and investigation, paramedical attention and other emergency services ”.


FIREMEN CREW PROFILE

The Firemen Crew at the Maritime Caribbean University is compounded of people who are members of the college community with a solid knowledge in the fields of prevention and risk mitigation. We have got a great vocation for service, a strong willingness and tenacity. We are engaged to our institution and the Vargas State.

FIREMEN CREW ACTIVITIES

Giving pre-hospital emergency treatment and controlling fire attempts inside the campus and in its surroundings.

Workshops and training lectures about pre-hospital emergency treatment, fire fighting and risk mitigation. These workshops and training lectures are devoted to the university community and other people who live in neighbouring areas who are interested in emergency treatment topics.
Carrying out inspections inside the campus with the purpose of mitigating risks.

Training related to the fire fighting task.

Training and progressive enhancement courses taught to the firemen crew.

Displaying the administrative negotiations needed in order to develop the various activities carried out by the firemen crew.

Teaching and training aimed to members of the university community who are interested in entering the firemen crew.

TRAINING COURSES

The training courses for new members of the firemen crew are carried out by means of an institutional agreement between the Caribbean Maritime University Firemen Crew and the UCV (Universidad Central de Venezuela, the country's most important public university) Firemen Department. This training course lasts one year approximately and it is compounded of 4 modules:

Pre-hospital Emergency Treatment: this module displays techniques about Pre-hospital emergency medical assistance and Basic Life Support (LBS) for injured people. This assistance is offered at the right place the accident has occurred and during the transportation to a hospital.

Fire Controlling: in this module, the various techniques on fire controlling in urban and maritime areas are taught

Rescue Basic Techniques: this module is devoted to urban and rural basic rescue techniques, using specialised equipment for evacuation, search and rescue of injured people especially during contingencies taking place in land or sea.

Organisation and functions related to the firemen's task: this module is created to teach the Integral Formation fundamentals related to firemen and their physical conditioning .



REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTERING THE FIREMEN CREW

If you wish to participate in the Training Course, you have to fulfil the following requirements:

You need to be over 18.

Having no criminal records.

Being a member of the university community.

You need to be a full time employee.

You need to pass a physical test applied by the firemen crew.

You need to pass a psychological test.

You need to pass a medical examination .
