STUDENT DEVELOPMENT COORDINATION

The Student Development Coordination is the responsible for the definition, organisation and management of the Programme and Students' Services at the Caribbean Maritime University . These services are aimed to meet the students' needs in the socioeconomic areas, health, orientation and all the fields which allow a comprehensive development as well as a better academic performance.

The Caribbean Maritime University offers to Venezuelan and foreign students the chance to be targeted by the Financial Aid Programme which consists of the following sub-programmes: Assistantship, Special Assistantship, Basic Scholarship, Student Merit Award and Special Financial Aid.

  • New Scholarships Requests are admitted: in the mornings -from 8 until 11:30am; in the afternoons –from 2 until 4:30pm. See the requirements.

  • The period for Scholarships Renewals is from Monday March 23 rd , 2009 to Friday April 17 th , 2009. From 8:30 until 11:30am –from 2 to 4:30pm. No extra time. Requirements.

FINANCIAL AID PROGRAMME

Monthly Amount

Basic scholarship : it is a monthly financial contribution given to undergraduate students with a proven economic need during academic terms and vacation periods. The goal is to support the academic development of students. Requirements.

200,00 Bsf. (USD 93,00 each student)

Assistantship: it is a monthly financial contribution given to undergraduate students with a proven economic need during academic terms and vacation periods. This benefit implies that students have to carry out an activity inside the campus during 4 weekly hours in order to fulfil 16 monthly hours. The activity should be performed in any of the coordination departments at the Caribbean Maritime University . Requirements.

307,00Bsf. (USD 142,00 each student)

Special Assistantship: it is a monthly financial contribution given to undergraduate students with a proven economic need during academic terms and vacation periods. This benefit implies that students have to carry out an activity inside the campus during 5 weekly hours in order to complete 20 monthly hours. The activity should be performed in the following coordination departments at the Caribbean Maritime University : Comprehensive Education, Sports, Culture, Inter-institutional Relations (Protocol), Firemen division and Research. (With a previous nomination.) Requirements

Student Merit Award: it is a monthly financial contribution given to undergraduate students having such an excellent academic performance during a term. The student has to be selected by the corresponding School.

Special Financial Aid: it is an incidental financial contribution given to undergraduate students with a proven economic need to cover expenses totally or partially, due to incidental situations related to academic affairs. These situations are: acquisition of textbooks, purchase of uniforms, medical treatment expenses, medicines, conventional eyeglasses, financial aid to attend sports, cultural and research events.Requirements

Procedures for the request of special financial aid:

  • To withdraw the Request Form on Tuesdays from 8:30 until 11:30am.
  • To deliver the Request Form on Thursdays from 8:30 until 11:30am.
  • To wait for a lapse of 15 working days to have the payment notification published on the notice board.
  • The financial aids must be claimed after its publication date. They expire after 30 days of being approved .

College Cafeteria Service:

Students who want to attend the College Cafeteria have to submit the following documents at the Student Development Coordination:

  • A copy of the Registration Form.

  • A copy of the class timetable.

  • A copy of any public service bill (water, phone, electricity, satellite TV).

 

Note: In case of medical emergency, please go to the hospitals subscribed to the Vargas Agreement: Clínica ALFA and Unidad Quirúrgica San Antonio .

Hospitals subscribed to the Caracas Agreement: Centro Integral La Trinidad .
